FAQ

We have provided answers to some of the most frequently asked questions below, but if you don't find your question below or are looking for more information, please do not hesitate to contact us directly either by email or telephone.

I do not live in the Netherlands, can I still become an Executive MBA student?
Absolutely. As the program consists of 6 modules that are 2 weeks in length, it is possible to simply fly in for those 4 modules that take place in the Netherlands. As the Executive MBA students stay on campus at one of Nyenrode's hotels as part of the program, your accomodations are already arranged for you. Nyenrode is conveniently located 20 minutes for Schiphol airport, allowing you to come to campus easily to join your classmates.

What qualifications do I need if I want to apply for the Executive MBA?
We expect a lot from our MBA students. Before you can apply and register for the Executive MBA, you need to have the following:
  •  Completed application form
  • Two letters of reference (using the referee template in the application form)
  • The GMAT, GRE or the Nyenrode Admissions Test indicating a strong result
  • A proven thorough command of written and spoken English
  • An up-to-date curriculum vitae outlining at least four years of professional work experience
  • Copies of diplomas and academic transcripts at a Bachelor degree level or higher
Please see Admissions for more information.

What qualities do you look for when you make your admissions selection?
Nyenrodians have a reputation for entrepreneurial prowess. We're going to be looking for evidence of self-discipline and emotional intelligence. You need to show us that you set high standards for yourself, think before you act, and work well with those around you.  We've designed the course to encourage maximum interaction between students, and between students, faculty and companies. We aim to develop managers and leaders who take risks, set personal challenges for themselves and take a pro-active approach to leadership and learning.

Please see Admissions for more information.

How long will I have to wait to hear if I've been successful?
We don't want to keep you in suspense. As soon as we receive your application, we'll review it and let you know right away (within a week, normally) if you've been selected for an interview. And after your interview, whether face-to-face or by phone, you'll hear from us within one or two weeks. If we'd like to offer you a place, but haven't yet received all of the parts of your application we need, we may offer you a conditional acceptance.

What language will be used for lectures?
Our Executive MBA is taught entirely in English. That's not a political choice, it's because English is currently the international language of business.

Does the university provide accommodation?
Yes, it does. The Nyenrode campus comprises the grounds of a 13th century estate, just south of Amsterdam. All of our Executive MBA students will qualify for on-campus accommodation at one of our hotels during their on-campus modules.

Can I arrange to visit Nyenrode to get a feel for the university?
Yes, please!  We welcome you to visit the campus if you can get here. Just let us know you're coming, and we'll arrange for you to meet some of our students, staff, and the MBA team members. You'll get a tour of the campus, and if there's a lecture going on you are welcome to sit in to get a feel for how we work. If you e-mail the MBA office, we will make all the necessary arrangements. We welcome you to attend one of our upcoming Campus Weekends.
Can I apply digitally?
Yes, you can download an application form for the Executive MBA. The requirements are still the same as a paper application, naturally.  Application requirements and processes are exactly the same for paper and digital applications. We still require you to submit hard certified copies of your diploma and transcript by post.

Please see Admissions for more information.

Can I submit my (digital) application package before I receive my official GMAT score?
Yes, we will start processing and reviewing your application package, and will add your GMAT, GRE or Nyenrode Admissions test results and any additional documents as soon as they arrive.

Do I have to pay an Application Fee? Will I get it back if I'm unsuccessful?
Unfortunately, it costs us money to process applications, so we have to charge a non-refundable Application Fee of 80 euros. You can pay by bank draft, Eurocheque, or international money order.

Cheques and money orders should be made payable to 'Nyenrode Business Universiteit, MBA Application Fee.' Please specify that you're applying for the Executive MBA. Bank transfers should be sent to ABN-AMRO Bank N.V. Breukelen, account number 55.05.53.827. If you're making an international bank transfer, you'll also need these codes:
IBAN: NL33ABNA0550553827  and  BIC: ABNANL2A

Please see Admissions for more information.

What if I'm accepted, but can't start right away. Can I defer my application?
We're willing to wait for the right people. If you're accepted, you may be able to defer your entrance by one year. When you fill out the application form, be sure to let us know which year you're applying for. We'll have to decide whether to accept these requests case by case, depending on your reasons for wanting to wait. If we accept you as a deferred candidate, we'll get in touch six to eight months before your starting date to confirm your enrollment in the following year.
