Admission

The procedure to start a PhD at Nyenrode Business Universiteit is as follows:
  1. Please read the Rules & Regulations (R&R) carefully:
Nyenrode PhD and EDP Rules & Regulations
  2. Find an appropriate full professor yourself through our Expertise Finder and contact him or her by sending a description of your research plan,  research field and your CV.
  3. Once you have found a professor who is willing to supervise you, the Academic Services Center will request you to submit the following documents:
    1. A completed application form indicating the theme of the PhD research and including the  name(s) and signature(s) of the professor(s) willing to act as supervisor(s) (see Appendix A of the PhD Rules & Regulations)
    2. Certified copies of diplomas
    3. Curriculum vitae
    4. A copy of your identification document (passport or ID card) which must be valid for at least 6 months
As soon as we have received these documents, we will register you conditionally for our PhD Program. From this moment onwards you have the right to receive advise and support from the Academic Services Center and participate in the offered courses. The PhD director will invite you for an informal meeting in order to get acquainted and to answer any questions you may have.

In addition to a formal application, you are required to submit a detailed research proposal, approved by your supervisor(s), underlining the choice of the suggested research methodology (see the PhD Rules & Regulations). Once we receive your proposal and it is endorsed by the PhD Director(s) you will be fully admitted to the PhD School. (For an external PhD student, a yearly fee is charged.)
