IMBA students awarded by Harvard for MoC project for the second year in a row

For the second year in a row, a group of Nyenrode IMBA students have been awarded by Harvard Business School for their project for the Microeconomics of Competitiveness (MoC) course taught by the Nyenrode Strategy Center.

Students Hanako Masudo, Caroline Saweho, Avik Sengupta, Michael Larkum, and Radek Ruhlmann wrote a paper on the petrochemical cluster ‘Port of Rotterdam’. They analyzed the creation, current position, and future success of the petrochemical cluster located in the Port of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Their paper was chosen as the runner up paper out of over 89 papers from students from universities worldwide.

The MoC course took place at Nyenrode in March and April 2009. It was developed at Harvard Business School by Professor Michael Porter and a team of colleagues. It is designed to be taught at universities around the world. The course makes extensive use of materials and facilities provided by Harvard Business School, including a textbook, cases, a series of lectures on video and videos with national, regional and business leaders involved in the cases studied. The course addresses the determinants of competitiveness from a bottom-up, microeconomic perspective.

At Nyenrode Prof. Dr. Fred van Eenennaam, Dr. Pablo Collazzo, Professor Fred Lachotzki, Prof. Dr. Annemieke Roobeek, Fred Kandou and Ruth Soesman were the instructors of the course.

The start of a new, revised IMBA class is scheduled for September 2010.
