Tom van Veen was appointed as Professor of Economics at Nyenrode's Center of Finance in January 2010. His fields of interest are: European monetary integration, European economic policy, monetary economics, financial economics, financial markets, banking, labor unions, wage bargaining and problems of coordination.
Apart from his position at Nyenrode he also holds the positions of Associate Professor in Economics and Associate Dean for Internationalization and Strategic Development at the School of Business and Economics, Maastricht University. He was one of the founding fathers of this faculty, which opened its doors in 1984.
Tom studied Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam and Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. In 1997 he obtained his doctorate at Maastricht University with a thesis on “Studies in Wage Bargaining. The influence of taxes and social security contributions on wages.”
