FD-NYENRODE MONITOR OCTOBER 2008: CREDIT CRUNCH

In cooperation with Het Financieele Dagblad, the Nyenrode Business Universiteit has conducted research among Dutch companies and managers about their opinions on the credit crunch. A total of 526 respondents participated in the study: 154 entrepreneurs and 372 managers. The research was conducted during the period from October 23 - 27, 2008.

Although most of the entrepreneurs and managers think their companies are strong enough to survive the credit crunch largely undamaged—and most of them don’t expect to fire employees in the near future—the results show that both entrepreneurs and managers believe the worst has yet to come.

For most respondents the credit crunch is regarded as a temporary setback rather than a system failure of capitalism. While the majority of the entrepreneurs and managers are satisfied with the approach of the Dutch government to tackle the crisis, only about 50% of them currently have faith in Dutch banks.
