63rd Dies Natalis dedicated to Prof. Dr. Paul de Chauvigny de Blot
On Friday, November 20 the Nyenrode Business Universiteit celebrated its 63rd anniversary.
Dr. Maurits van Rooijen, Rector Magnificus of Nyenrode, spoke about the recession and Nyenrode's responsibility to stay ahead and continue educating and learning in a sustainable and innovative way.
During the ceremony that followed, Prof. Dr. Paul de Chauvigny de Blot received a medal of honor (Knight in the Order of Oranje-Nassau), issued by Queen Beatrix. Mr. Mik, mayor of Breukelen, held a speech telling the audience about the rich and inspring life of Paul de Blot, praising his more than 60 years of social and academic service to society. Mik concluded by officially handing over the medal to Paul de Blot.

Afterwards the brand-new knight, slightly overwhelmed by the ceremonial surprise, addressed the audience by sharing his views on the positive sides of the recession: during times of crisis, we should all apply the laws and the cycle of life in nature by letting go of what is weak, and by planting new seeds for survival. In his opinion, crisis is to be seen as a start for resurrection and revival.

Prof. Dr. De Chauvigny de Blot concluded by telling a short tale about an eagle's egg that was hatched out and brought up to be a chicken - and had to learn to be an eagle....
